NO HONOUR by AWAIS KHAN

NO HONOUR bY AWAIS KHAN

From the harrowing first chapter of this story, I was both gripped and horrified. The writing is immersive, easy to read and completely engaging. The main characters, Abida and Jamil, quickly became people I cared about, so much so, that weeks after completing the book, I am still thinking about them. That is a sign of terrific writing.

I was educated about Pakistan from this novel as well as the horrific subject of honour killings. The story at times broke my heart and made me cry, but ultimately it is a story about survival and love, about hope and believing in oneself. I LOVED the two main characters, and the insight the author gave us as readers to another culture.

As well as the incredible writing, this is a very important story. I found myself putting off other things so I'd have more time to get back to it and read. No Honour is one of a very few books, I will read again and again. I plan to now order and read Awais Khan's, debut novel, and will then be hungry for any other book he writes.

Awais Khan is an exceptionally talented writer, and I can hand-on-heart say, No Honour is one of the best books I've ever read.

ROUND UP FROM 2021

2021 was a bumper year for me in regards of reading. To commemorate all the books I purchased and read, I created mini versions of each book and framed them as a keepsake. 2022 should be filled with as many books, if not more, and I will share my favorite reads here.
Several of the books I read last year were from Indie authors I discovered on Twitter. I regularly choose books from authors I connect with on Twitter, and in 2022, I plan on reading even more from Indie authors.
